Roman Londinium…the foundation of the historic city you see today…

What did the Romans ever do for us? A question that has been asked from Monty Python to many in academia.  Well, apart from roads, our calendar, plumbing and sanitation (to name a few) they were also the first to introduce us to fast food.

Join us and explore the very heart of the Roman capital in England.

The City of London as we know it today grew from the very foundations of the walled city the Romans built making it the oldest part of London.

The Roman invaders found a point in the River Thames suitable for a crossing which was to be the only crossing for 1700 years.

The ruins of Londinium along with evidence of Roman life survive for us all to see – such as the remains of the Roman wall that surrounded the city. These ruins stand proudly alongside modern skyscrapers that glitter in the sun, and secrets lie hidden beneath their very foundations.
